"Pro life" laws that ban or limit abortion (forced birth laws) are laws that cause active harm to those who are pregnant, their families, the unwanted child, and our communities at large.
As seen in pre-Roe v Wade, the underground access to abortion created a system where the privileged and lucky could have the health care they need and the marginalized could not.
This has led to individuals and families being locked into generational poverty cycles and individuals suffering unwanted health issues and even death. To support forced birth laws is to support harming women, their families, and their communities.
For this and many other reasons I am writing a letter a day until we end forced birth by writing reproductive freedom and abortion access into law.
