One of the more disturbing things about forced birth legislation is how they treat miscarriage as a crime.
The fact that these laws cannot prevent abortion while separating the natural and largely uncontrollable tragedy of miscarriage and stillbirth exposes a glaring problem with their underlying premise. As with the entire forced birth movement, these laws are using a legislative stick of dynamite to blast through the rights and well-being of sentient Americans in order to perform a savior cosplay on a fetus.
It is unacceptable to criminally prosecute individuals who have unwillingly lost a pregnancy. For this and many other reasons I am writing a letter a day until we end forced birth by writing reproductive freedom into law.
