The assumption around forced birth is that, categorically, women are not entitled to the same health care that men enjoy. In a free society during the 21st century that boggles the mind.
Untold numbers of men can walk into clinics and doctor's offices all over our great nation each day and seek treatment for erectile dysfunction without a single question of "does anyone want him to have an erection? Can he be trusted with one?"
Untold numbers of men have received vasectomies without the presence of or contact with their wives. Not a single thought of "is this to enable him to be promiscuous?" Not a single question of "what if we're unable to reverse this?"
This incredibly unfair double standard is one of many reasons I'm writing a letter a day to end forced birth and ensure we protect access to reproductive health care with law.
