An open letter to the U.S. Senate

Delay confirmation of Supreme Court justice until after the election!

9 so far! Let’s get to 10 signers!

In light of the heartbreaking loss of Justice Ginsburg, I am gravely concerned. I would like to remind our Georgia senators that in 2016, Senator Perdue stated “The very balance of our nation’s highest court is in serious jeopardy. As a member of the senate judiciary committee, I will do everything in my power to encourage the President and senate leadership not to start this process until we hear from the American people.” Merrick Garland was nominated in March of 2016, and the senate asserted that selection of a new justice was not warranted during an election year. McConnell repeatedly reasoned that it hadn’t been done in 80 years, and that they would absolutely not confirm a justice until after the election. I challenge our senators to show even a shred of integrity and consistency, and wait to confirm a new justice until after this election cycle.
