An open letter to the U.S. Congress

I urge you to stand in solidarity with the Black community

8 so far! Let’s get to 10 signers!

In light of the recent murder of George Floyd by police officer Derek Chauvin in Minneapolis, I implore you to stand in solidarity with the entire Black community by urging your peers to create legislation that demilitarizes the police and combats the disease of racism in our community police departments. You must create legislation that aims to disrupt and dismantle the status quo protecting an unjust power that protects our police when they slaughter those who are innocent and innocent until proven guilty. You must act now, as his death cannot be in vain as so many before him have been. You cannot just simply not be a racist, you must be ANTI-RACIST. Stand with the Black community, not only with your words, but intently and deliberately with the power you hold in the United States federal government. We are all responsible for the outcome of this incontrovertible tragedy. And we will not allow the memory of George Floyd to be tarnished by an administration that enables, excuses and invites white supremacy. We must all do better today, and every day, for the Black community and for all people of color.
