An open letter to the U.S. Senate

Justice Ginsburg's Supreme Court Seat

21 so far! Let’s get to 25 signers!

I am writing in regards to the recent death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. This death is a tragedy. I am asking that her seat on the Supreme Court not be filled until after the presidential election. Following the death of Justice Antonin Scalia, Senator Mitch McConnell insisted that his seat on the Supreme Court remain vacant due to the upcoming presidential election. You MUST insist that Senator McConnell apply the same standard now as he did then. We are less than 50 days from a presidential election, and the current president is supported by less than half the country and won his election while losing the popular vote. President Trump has no mandate. Given that Justice Ginsburg's death comes much closer to the election than Justice Scalia's did, it is only fair that her seat remain vacant for the next president to fill. To do otherwise would be hypocrisy of the highest sort, and would be a betrayal of the trust of the American people. Do not, under any circumstances, allow Justice Ginsburg's seat to be filled - it must be left vacant for the winner of the upcoming presidential election.
