An open letter to State Legislatures Repeal 50-A
15 so far! Let’s get to 25 signers! I'm writing to ask you to repeal Civil Rights Law 50-A. It is one of the many things that has allowed law enforcement to feel that they are above the law and do not need to be held accountable for their actions like any other citizen. If someone has been accused of a crime, they should have the right to know about the police officer's or officers' misconduct history.
We are supposed to have a justice system and law enforcement that "serves and protects". However, it has been proven many times that this is not the case. Unfortunately, police have to be policed. I am asking that you vote to repeal 50-A so that there is more accountability and transparency. Thank you.
