An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Duty to protect & serve

8 so far! Let’s get to 10 signers!

It is with a heavy and dutiful heart that I write to you on behalf of myself and the rest of the nation in its current state. I am writing to demand an increase on measures to properly vet and train individuals seeking to become local and state Law Enforcement Officers. I am thankful for the service these individuals swear to provide, however, I have witnessed the failure of the system to uphold its rightful screening process due to an "increase in demand" for officers among other state specific reasons. While numbers may be important, what is more important is the officers ability to uphold the oath they take and to protect our civil liberties. We should not and cannot live in a nation where racial profiling and injustice to any United States citizen is tolerated, especially at the hands of the individuals we trust to protect us. That is why I am writing to you to reevaluate and reinforce the training and the duties of Law Enforcement officers in protecting the citizens of our nation. In writing this letter I am encouraging my officials to hear my voice and the voice of the nation. It is with your help that we seek to end issues within Law Enforcement and police brutality at large. Thank you.
