BAN BOLLYWOOD PRODUCTIONS: I am concerned that a part of the revenue generated from entertainment platforms, such as Netflix, Disney, hotstar, Amazon Prime etc., is funneled into promoting activities such as terrorism, drugs and child sex trafficking.
These platforms have financial contracts with Bollywood, the prominent film industry based in Mumbai India. This industry is heavily dominated by individuals involved in organized crime, also known as Mafia. There have been substantial revelations in past few months RE Mafia sponsored killings of accomplished actors, terrorism, child sex trafficking and trade of illegal drugs.
The Indian Government has responded to our pleas and several national agencies like NIA, CBI and NCB are investigating these allegations. Despite the shut down, due to the pandemic and popular ongoing dissent, Bollywood continues to generate revenue by direct release onto these digital platforms viewed globally.
As a concerned resident of the US, and a global citizen contributing to these digital platforms, we humbly request that you raise this issue in the senate: multi billion dollar digital entertainment platforms should respect human rights and labor laws and refrain from advertising, marketing, or having financial contracts with Bollywood Productions until these allegations have been thoroughly investigated.
