Support Medicare for All!

Support Medicare for All! Our current global pandemic has shown the dangers of health care insurance being tied to employment and the weaknesses of our health institutions and public health system. Health insurance and pharmaceutical companies continue to take advantage of complex billing practices and price gouge when they can while ordinary people suffer the consequences. Additionally, racial disparities in healthcare and health outcomes have become glaringly obvious. People of color are disproportionately burdened by the pandemic. It is inexcusable that access to quality health services are only for the rich, and an individual's health status is dependent upon their race.  Now is the time for action. Medicare for All will protect us ALL from the profit driven health insurance companies, hospitals and pharmaceutical companies who have been in power for far too long.  The language in this legislation includes these important measures that are so important to me and people across Oregon: 1. Equitable, high quality, and accessible coverage for all 2. No insurance networks, premiums, deductibles, copays or surprise bills 3. Dental, hearing and vision coverage, community-based long term care, mental health and substance abuse treatment, reproductive and maternity care 4. Caps on rising cost of prescription drugs Individuals should no longer have to have to choose between paying rent, putting food on the table or getting the healthcare they need. I urge you to do everything you can to get Medicare for All (S.1129 and H.R.1384) passed.
