An open letter to State Governors

Rent/mortgage forgiveness

19 so far! Let’s get to 25 signers!

Please strongly consider a moratorium on rent for at least the next two months. Most people who rent are lower income families working paycheck to paycheck. They already have difficulty paying rent each month. Having to pay back rent for two to three months ON TOP of paying the current months rent would be even more difficult than it was before. Especially considering, many people won't be working during this unprecedented time. Most people will be scrambling just to catch up and feel rebalanced and not having to worry about catching up on rent would ease that stress for a majority of Californians. So again, please consider a 2-3 month forgiveness on rent and mortgages while we hunker down and try to stop COVID-19 in its tracks. We're doing all we can, we'd appreciate the government meeting us in the middle.
