As you are well aware, last night we lost a great Supreme Court Justice, and only the second woman to ever serve on the highest court in the land. I'm sure after paying her some respects you naturally pivoted to thinking of her replacement. Justice Ginsburg's dying wish was to not be replaced until after inauguration day. As I recall, following Justice Scalia's death you commented that "we are already well into the presidential election process and that the Supreme Court appointment is for a lifetime, it makes sense to give the American people a more direct say in this critical decision. The next Court appointment should be made by the newly-elected president."
Stand by your own words and treat this instance with the same aplomb. Some details admittedly differ, one of which is that we are living in an absolute crisis prolonged by many followers of your party.
Know that your decision on how to proceed now will not be forgotten in 2022.
