An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Bring the HEROES Act to the floor

436 so far! Let’s get to 500 signers!

I am calling upon you to bring the Heroes Act to the floor. The Government response must reduce structural racism — not reinforce it. Resources must be committed to ensure BIPOC have housing where they can safely weather the pandemic and all the economic turmoil it has caused. The Heroes Act provides rental assistance, a homeowner assistance fund, and would ban evictions for non-payment for a year following its enactment date. I surely hope voter suppression is not an underlying reason for you not to discuss this bill, since if a person is homeless, they can’t get a mail in ballot. I look forward to seeing action on your part to get this passed, including putting pressure on Speaker McConnell to get it moving.
