An open letter to the U.S. Congress

On the side of what is right.

In today's Times-Reporter (9-21-2020), Senator Portman said, "Since 1880s, no Senate has confirmed an opposing-party president's Supreme Court nominee in a presidential election year." That is incorrect. In 1988, the Democratic-led Senate approved President Ronald Reagan's nominee. See the attached article. There is no reason to rush this nomination. We are 43 days from the national election. States have already started to vote. We, the voters, will not forget who flip flops on their previous statements to wait on nominating someone to replace Justice Ginsburg. Nor will we forget those that continue to try to change history. Senator Portman and Rep. Gibbs, I will work diligently to see that you both lose the next time you are up for re-election. Neither of you reflects the morals, values and beliefs that I and thousands of your constituents share towards humanity and the earth.
