In accordance with CDC and WHO guidelines to “flatten the curve” of infection, we overwhelmingly support widespread COVID-19 testing and continued economic slowdown. We insist that testing take precedence over any other non-emergency matters at this time. The President has confirmed that Florida is among the states under major disaster declarations. It is imperative that we take this seriously. Widespread testing and self-isolation of infected individuals is what has been proven to be effective on the world stage and we insist that the same be done in Florida.
Additionally, in a previous letter we have expressed a need for protection for average Florida homeowners and renters as we navigate this difficult time. It seems as though you are willfully ignoring the interests of your constituency. The federal economic stimulus bill leaves gaps that many in this state will slip through. Many houses and apartment buildings in Florida are owned by foreign acquisitions companies and may face losing their homes during this time. We urge you to issue sweeping protections for all homeowners and renters, that they should not face evictions or foreclosure during this time.
