It is with great concern that I am contacting you today after the remarks made by President Trump regarding the White Supremacy groups, specifically, Proud Boys, during Tuesday night's debate.
What we witnessed was far beyond what I could have imagined coming from a sitting president. He did not denounce these groups, but, in fact, simply told them to “stand down and stand by.” I certainly don't need to go into any detail on this. However, this has now gone beyond national politics. This is no longer about left vs right, conservative vs liberal, but it is now about the safety of people living within the borders of the State of Utah and the United States of America.
I hereby am asking that our United States Senators and Representatives in the House to come together to make a televised call of unity against these white supremacist terrorist groups. This will also need to include representatives of our local and statewide law enforcement. This would be to call out President Trump to stop his incessant pandering to these groups and giving them the 'go-ahead' to assault the very citizens of this country which MUST include denouncing white supremacy in all forms.
The people of Utah and the United States deserve better than to live in fear from these home-grown terrorist groups. There is more terrorism, in actuality or implied, coming from these groups than any other in the history of this country.
The call to end this is now.
