Hazard Pay for Nonprofit Organizations

110 so far! Let’s get to 250 signers!

I work at the May Institute or am a proud supporter of the May Institute. The May Institute is a nonprofit that provides critical services to individuals with disabilities across the lifespan. I would like to request an immediate pay supplement be put in place for all staff in the safety net workforce. I genuinely appreciate the many steps you and your team already taken to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and to support health and human services providers. You recently put into place a temporarily increased pay for nurses and healthcare workers who work directly for the state. Unfortunately, this hazard pay of $5 to $10 more per hour was not extended to people working in the private sector, including community-based organizations and nonprofits like May Institute. I am asking for equal treatment of front-line employees providing critical care to vulnerable populations. Please institute a similar hazard pay provision for community-based human services, so that staff receive the same salary incentive as their state counterparts doing similar work. Please contact me if you would like additional information. Thank you.
