The federal CARES unemployment funds need to be extended beyond July - or there will be even more devastating consequences in this country. With the recent surge in COVID19 cases, additional lockdowns will ensue and prevent a return to economic "normalcy". My 23+ year career in the meeting planning industry has been devastated and won't fully recover until at least 2022. Full-time employees across the country need continued financial support...or the ripple effect will be devastating across all industries and economies. EXTEND THE FINANCIAL SUPPORT.
$200-$400 is not sufficient for families that were formerly employed full-time, particularly with the surges and impending school year beginning, necessitating that people stay home. $600 needs to be retained, but distributed carefully to former full-timers. I know a high school student employed part-time at a Panera that received the $600 weekly support.
MAINTAIN $600, BUT DISTRIBUTE WISELY
It needs to continue seamlessly, without a potential 8-20 week implementation that has been suggested --- AND NOT REDUCED TO $200/week.
PEOPLE, not corporations, need support NOW. If middle America doesn't have money to survive --- all businesses will fail.
