I am writing to ask you to NOT reopen in person instruction for the Fall for our state.
As an educator of eleven years, I love my work and my students. Of course, I would prefer to be in the classroom starting with a group of young people, but I feel unsafe doing so. The COVID19 virus is changing our entire world and it is time for us, as educators and those who care about the safety of our communities, to look at online instruction as our options and priority for the 20-21 school year. I fear for the lives of our students, their families, and my fellow teachers. Please don’t ask us to be martyrs. Utah has one of the highest rates of infection in the world. One avoidable death is one too many.
