An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Keep The Postal Service Running!

7 so far! Let’s get to 10 signers!

I urge you to demand public hearings about how the USPS is being systematically hobbled in doing their job collecting and delivering the mail. Additionally, I hope you’ll demand that the USPS be bailed out in the next COVID relief package. Voting by mail will be crucial for the Nov 3rd election and we need a solvent capable USPS to process the ballots. The article, “USPS Plans to Slash Hours at Many Post Offices, Hoping to Save A Buck,” describes the mismanagement. “Post offices around the country are slashing their hours—including during the busiest times of day—with little notice as yet another abrupt cost-saving measure, according to interviews with union officials conducted by Motherboard and various local news reports. The USPS had also planned to close some offices entirely with just three weeks’ notice, likely in violation of federal law, but appears to be backtracking.” {} I hope you’ll vigorously denounce any attempt to reduce USPS service to Americans, demand public hearings on USPS mismanagement, and demand a bailout of the USPS in the next relief package. I await your press conference devoted to saving the USPS.
