You must save the USPS
The USPS is a lifeline for our lives, our health, our businesses and even our democracy. It is enshrined in the constitution. And it is now in peril. I ask you not to permit the USPS to be undermined and dismantled on your watch. Louis De Joy's testimony time the house and senate committees was nothing short of disgraceful. The executive of a private business who oversaw such a decline in effectiveness, refused to take responsibility or to cooperate willingly with overseers would be fired. Moreover, De Joy's appointment appears to have been partisan and irregular. And De Joy lied under oath. He evaded responsibility for his decisions. If his catastrophic direction continues there will be deaths from late delivery of medicine, evictions from late checks, business failures from late deliveries, health crises from rats eating rotting goods and perhaps an undermining of our election. Do not stand by. You must force McConnell to take up the Delivering for America act. You must call out the illegitimacy if McConnell's blocks. You know as well as I do that the senate represents a minority of the popular vote and that Trump did not win a popular majority. The ghastly spectre of a single politician and a non-majority potus blocking the will of America during a pandemic sounds like something from a third-works dictatorship. It should by no part of government of, by, and for the people. It is a screaming, flagrant abuse that will cause suffering, ruin, and even deaths. As you know the House incorporated funds for the usps in the Heroes Act, which it passed in May. The House passed the Delivering For America act on Saturday. That the senate went on recess without addressing the Covid emergency or allocating the necessary support for the USPS is not just irresponsible. It is also cruel. And it destroys the legitimacy and moral credibility of the senate. Now do your job please.
