Stimulus Bill: College Students

The newly established stimulus bill includes many important components to help people and their businesses. However, the payouts for individuals and families do not include adult dependents. As a college student, I have several friends that work more than one job to help earn money while also paying for college. Even if their parents pay for their college, they receive full or partial scholarship, or they receive outside scholarships, they still need to work a side job. Unfortunately, these jobs are ones that happen to be on the front line currently. Whether they were waiting tables before restaurants closed down, delivering food from restaurants, or stocking shelves at the grocery store, students are on the front line. By not including students (adult dependents) in the stimulus payouts, they are losing money if they're not working overtime to pick up extra shifts. In addition, there are several students that live in poverty and their typical means of living and schooling are provided by universities. If they additionally work for the university, as many students who qualify for work-study do, they are completely without a job with campuses closed. I
