An open letter to the President a letter concerning racial justice
9 so far! Let’s get to 10 signers! as the president of a democratic country, it is your job to offer equal opportunity to all. it would be impossible to do so for all communities if actions against systematic racism are not taken. the death of george floyd is one instance of this racism that served as a catalyst to release the pent up frustration of black communities after hundreds of years of oppression. and their response is justified. peaceful protests (which are protests that are based off of civil disobedience rather than physical force) are a key part of exercising the people's rights outlined in the first amendment, and it is both unlawful and unconstitutional to use military force against peaceful protesters. i urge you to make the right choice for our country: the choice that acknowledges the response from black communities and the choice which allows them to exercise their rights to protest until they can make
significant idealogical change. the country is well aware that (based on your past actions) you will not take direct action to help the oppressed communities as president. however, your country is waiting for your silence rather than tweets and military announcements against protesters. i urge you to listen to the messages of millions of your people, and i urge you to unify the country against racism rather than glorify military action.
