I am writing regarding the recent passing of Justice Ginsburg and the opening she has left on the Supreme Court.
I would like to remind you of the precedent that was set in March of 2016, when officials decried that you cannot appoint a new Justice during an election year, that we must let the people decide. I'd also like to remind you of promises that were made regarding honoring that precedent should an opening occur under a Trump presidency.
We count on our elected officials to stick to their word and to honor commitments they have made. Should a nomination be rushed through, I call upon you to abstain. I call upon you to honor the system and the precedent that your party set. You have an opportunity to show your constituents your true character. For the love of democracy, don't disappoint us.
