Do Not Support S. 3398, the EARN IT Act

187 so far! Let’s get to 250 signers!

The Eliminating Abusive and Rampant Neglect of Interactive Technologies Act of 2019 — also known as the EARN IT Act — gives Attorney General Willliam Barr the power to demand that tech companies destroy essential encryption programs that keep us all safe from government censorship, cybersecurity breaches, and human rights abuses. S.3398 cannot be allowed to pass. While its’ claim of trying to protect children online is honorable, and definitely something to be worked on, it opens up a dangerous opportunity for the government to monitor ALL activity by citizens online. This violates our 4th Amendment rights to our own intellectual property and threatens our 1st Amendment rights. Please do not let our rights be taken away under the guise of a good cause. Children can be protected without us sacrificing our freedom. Thank you.
