An open letter to State Governors

Housing & Water Are Human Rights

69 so far! Let’s get to 100 signers!

We are calling on you to enact a ban on all sweeps, cleanups, or other mandated moving of houseless folks in the state of Colorado by September 1st. Additionally, you must guarantee access to clean drinking water for all people by the end of this year. If funds are needed for this endeavor, use your powers to take them from the budget for state patrol. It is shameful and dangerous that instead of guaranteeing the people of Colorado a safe and secure place to live as well as access to drinking water, you are encouraging racist, homicidal police officers to sweep aside and brutalize our unhoused neighbors. The CDC expressly discourages moving camps of houseless people during this pandemic because of how such activity increases spread. Involving armed officers who lie over and over again makes that bad situation worse. We are asking you to let people live. Will your office commit to ending the sweeps and getting people water?
