An open letter to State Governors & Legislatures (MD only) Comcast data cap
9 so far! Let’s get to 10 signers! I am writing to oppose the Comcast data limits set to go into effect in January. This will be a problem state wide, but especially in Baltimore. As you know, Comcast effectively has a monopoly on high speed internet in the city. This is by design. Comcast exploits this and is free to charge whatever they want, because there are few options for home internet (and in some neighborhoods, literally none at all). I have been working from home since March, as have many others. As a result, my internet usage has increased exponentially. Zoom meetings and online webinars are mandatory, and they use a lot of data. To cap data and upcharge for heavy use would be unreasonable even in normal times. Right now, with so many households living on a reduced income it is unconscionable. We are forced to work and learn from home, with fewer resources. Please, I urge you to deny Comcast the increased prices and data caps. They are trying to squeeze blood from a stone, when we've been bled dry already.
