RE: TRUTH IN POLITICS ACT

RE: TRUTH IN POLITICS ACT I am writing to you today regarding my sincere belief that the events of January 6, 2021 were a natural and expected result of the infiltration of disinformation in politics. These extremists were converted by the means of lies told by people in power - people who hold public trust. How can we avoid this in the future? It should go without saying (or legislating, but these are extraordinary times that we must act), but we must put forth a TRUTH IN POLITICS ACT, akin to the FTC's Truth in Advertising, or banking Truth in Lending, which will require anyone in a position of public trust to ensure they are speaking honestly; and if they repeatedly tell the same lie which can be proven misleading or outright false, be held accountable. Why should companies and banks be held to higher standards of honesty than our elected leaders? The time for this is now.
