An open letter to the U.S. Congress

We must not delay the impeachment and removal of this most dangerous president

29 so far! Let’s get to 50 signers!

On Wednesday, the heart of American government was attacked and overrun by violent seditionists. These seditionists were incited and encouraged to attack our country by our outgoing president. The president, by multiple accounts, had previously gone to military leaders looking for a military coup. That failing, we got a Keystone Koup. But it still put the lives of members of Congress at risk, killed 5 people, desecrated the Capitol, caused significant risk that foreign intelligence penetrated Capitol computer systems, and more. The idea that we can afford to wait until the middle of next week to discuss beginning the process of removing him from office before he can strike again is a foolishly optimistic idea. Already the lunatic fringe that organized, incited, and cheered on this attack on America has begun to create an alternate universe explanation of it, where the attack on the Capitol was led by “Antifa” and the President was innocent of any encouragement. We need to stop this and focus national attention on the facts. The longer we wait, the more time your colleagues will have to normalize what happened to themselves. Already 136 House members have voted in favor of this attack. The Senate’s best chance of supporting removal is voting on it soon. It is essential that the president be impeached and removed before he can do any more harm. Please call on your leadership to reconvene Congress so that this unspeakably urgent work can begin as soon as possible.
