An open letter to the U.S. Congress

A big $600 disappointment

14 so far! Let’s get to 25 signers!

A $600 stimulus check is a big disappointment. You may be forgetting that you need us, average individual Americans, to keep the economy healthy. We work, we pay taxes, we spend. Corporations and their rich owners and investors would have nothing without us. So this $600 stimulus is a tiny pat on our heads during this crisis. Compare $600 with the trillions we have paid in taxes and the trillions that we spend on stuff to make the owners of companies rich. We are America. You need to depend on us to eat out in restaurants, buy new cell phones, shop for the latest fashions, and buy insurance policies and new cars. If we stopped doing these things, where would rich people and their corporations make their money? We, average working Americans, are key to a healthy economy. So when you’re back at home in your nice homes with your families for the holiday, remember that $600 is a big disappointment to us. A big disappointment.
