No to Amy Coney Barrett
Please vote no on the confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett. Whenever I hear her say “I will keep an open mind”, I can imagine her saying I love you but I don’t love your sin.” It’s all said with a saccharine voice through a falsetto of a smile. She has taught seminars, written papers, given speeches; all encouraging using the courts to attack gay people. She has expressed support of eliminating coverage for pre-existing conditions. Her views on abortion and contaception would outlaw in vitro fertilization. She has expressed that marriage equality is an abomination. She loves everyone, just not their sin. She professes ignorance that she regularly works with hate groups. She thinks it is loving to make it legal for hospitals to bar husbands and wives from being recognized as such for their same sex spouses. She thinks it is loving to make a women who has been told that her pregnacy isn’t viable to carry a dead fetus to term. She thinks it’s loving to put profit over healthcare. She can’t commit to a peaceful transfer of power. She can’t be sure if armed militias intimidating voters are illegal. She can only think of a few judicial precidents that shouldn’t be overturned. Apparently there is some metric of popular opinion that protects precident from her version of judicial activism. Brown v. Board of Education is safe but Roe v. Wade (which is supported by 61% of Americans) doesn’t have enough popular support. She uses homophobic language (for which she is sorry if it offends but not sorry for using it) to depict LGBTQ people as deviant by choice. I have lived a lifetime of listening to people like her who think their polite demeanor makes their self-righteous bigotry okay. I no longer have patience for it. Shame onthe enablers of this farce.
