Please support expedited passage of HR 8438 Belarus Democracy Act

I am writing to request that you support expedited passage of HR 8438 Belarus Democracy, Human Rights, and Sovereignty Act of 2020 as an amendment to the omnibus bill. The bill, sponsored by Republican Congressman Chris Smith (NJ-4), passed in the House with broad bi-partisan support and is currently with the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. It is critical to the Belarusian people that the Senate pass HR 8438 before the end of the 116th Session. As your constituents we cannot ignore the violence and basic human rights violations that are happening in Belarus. As Americans with strong ties to Belarus we want to send a strong message to the illegitimate president Lukashenko and support Belarusians in the their fight for democracy and freedom.
