An open letter to State Governors & Legislatures (IN only)

Marion residents want more protection from flooding, not less

7 so far! Let’s get to 10 signers!

I am writing today as your constituent to urge you, Sen. Zay, to drop your bill SB 389. And I am copying you, Rep. Vermilion and Gov. Holcomb, in hopes that you will apply pressure to keep this damaging proposal from becoming law. Indiana needs wetlands now more than ever. Purdue U. climate researchers have indicated that Indiana will face heavier rains more often in the not too distant future. Wetlands are the most cost-effective storm water management infrastructure there is. We need to keep and protect the remaining wetlands we have. Here in Marion, large swaths of our city lie in the flood plain. It is mind-boggling to me why our state Senator wants to doom us to a future of more flooding. Please, no more destruction of our natural defenses. Stop SB 389.
