An open letter to the U.S. Senate Please vote AGAINST the nomination of Nathan Simington to the FCC.
45 so far! Let’s get to 50 signers! I'm asking you to vote AGAINST the nomination of Nathan Simington to the FCC. for the following reasons:
1) His nomination would deadlock the FCC at a crucial time for this country - even more so if Chairman Pai steps down after the nomination (per tradition).
2) His support of the current administration's targeting of Section 230 protections are disturbing (his demurral to Sen Blumenthal's questions notwithstanding). This comes across as a last ditch attempt by a lame duck administration With little more than a month left, the Senate would best be served leaving to next administration.
Surely the Majority Leader could see, as he oft has this year, the wisdom of deferring action on this matter.
The deferral of this nomination to the next Congress would be the best service to this country.
I would ask again...
Please vote AGAINST the nomination of Nathan Simington to the FCC.
