No on SB 86: Keep Bright Futures open to all majors

202 so far! Let’s get to 250 signers!

The Bright Futures Lottery Scholarship program was designed to keep Florida’s Best and Brightest here in our own state for college. It serves as an incentive for high school students to work hard to earn the scholarship and then to attend school in Florida while being able to graduate debt free. Limiting Bright Futures to arbitrary “approved” majors will only add to student debt and lead to many of our top kids going elsewhere. This is definitely against the initial goal. Families have counted on Bright Futures in its current form when making savings plans for college. Let’s keep it open for all qualifying students in whatever major inspires them. It’s the right thing to do for families, and it’s the right thing to do for Florida.
