Reject DeSantis's Murder Legalization Initiative

I urge you to reject Governor DeSantis's new “anti-mob” legislation, as it would in reality be a "legalized murder" law. If enacted, this legislation would provide cover for the murder of groups of innocent people on the mere *suspicion* that they were engaged in - or planning to be engaged in - a crime. We have a justice system to deal with crime. We have police, lawyers, advocates, trials, and juries. We do not need, and we do not want, ordinary citizens to be appointed as police, judge, jury, and executioner because they are afraid of a group of people. It does not take a lot of imagination to understand that this law would be predominantly used to excuse the murder of African American citizens, because some business owner was afraid of someone different from himself, and took it upon himself to preemptively murder them, in the name of "protecting" his business. Do not legalize murder. Do not legalize vigilantism. Reject DeSantis's "anti-mob" legislation.
