An open letter to the President

Save Social Security – #FireSaulAndBlack

543 so far! Let’s get to 1,000 signers!

President Biden, I urge you to remove Social Security Administration Commissioner Andrew Saul and Deputy Commissioner David Black – from their powerful perch running Social Security, these two Trump appointees have waged a relentless campaign against disabled Americans who rely on Social Security’s disability programs, SSDI and SSI. Mr. President, “The Biden Plan For Full Participation and Equality For People With Disabilities” you released during your campaign rightly noted that the “Trump Administration has systematically attacked the Social Security disability programs.” Commissioner Saul and Deputy Commissioner Black are directly responsible for those systematic attacks; the Social Security Administration cannot move forward in good faith under their leadership. It is impossible for millions of disabled Americans who rely on SSI and SSDI to trust a Social Security Administration led by two people who attempted to implement cruel and inhumane policies -- including an eleventh hour attempt to finalize $2.6 billion in cuts even after the president who appointed them lost re-election. President Biden, you’ve promised to “protect and strengthen economic security for people with disabilities” and “reverse damage done to Social Security rules by the Trump administration” – the first step in that important work? #FireSaulAndBlack.
