Reopen the budget to fund PA Libraries

290 so far! Let’s get to 500 signers!

I want to strongly support reopening of the 2020-2021 budget by the legislature to restore funding for public libraries. The current 5/12th appropriation equals a 58% reduction from 2019 annual funding for the Chester County Library. Result is a potential decrease of over $250,000 specific to my library. This decrease in funding will cause severe, negative effects on the programs and services that our community library provides your constituents. I use resources including public computers and open access to high-speed WiFi available only thru the Chester County Library to - __ Look for a job __ Secure benefits __ Enhance professional skills __ Work __ Study __ Foster learning with children's programs - Story Times, Music & Movement, Girls Who Code __ Engage in our community thru adult programs __ And much more I'm relying on you to keep libraries funded as a resource for each of your constituents. I understand that this year provides funding challenges. That said - funding for libraries is a critical element in furthering education and economic development across the District. Thank you for consideration.
