An open letter to the U.S. Senate Ditch the filibuster, expel the seditionists
13 so far! Let’s get to 25 signers! It's wrong to allow procedural conventions which are no part of the constitution to halt the legislation we need now. It's time to ditch the filibuster.
Today I learned that the filibuster was popularized in the Jim Crow era by Southerners in order to stop the Northern majority from passing legislation in favor of civil rights for Black citizens. That's a toxic anti-Democratic legacy. The filibuster is unworthy of the deliberative body that claims to be the finest in the world.
If Mitch McConnell can ram through a lifetime Supreme Court appointment in a matter of weeks, after the election started, with a majority of 1, then he has no leg to stand on when he tries to keep the filibuster.
Ditch the filibuster.
The seditionist caucus senators are also part of a toxic scheme of racist voter suppression. They wanted to throw out the fair and valid votes of mainly black urban regions. Please exclude the seditionists and election liars from the senate. The senate oath will mean nothing and our constitution will be in peril if they do not face accountability. Let the 14th amendment section 3 be your guide.
You swore an oath to the constitution which requires you to support and defend it. Allowing the seditionists to remain would be a violation of your oath.
