An open letter to State Governors & Legislatures (KS only)

Senator Gene Suellentrop should resign

142 so far! Let’s get to 250 signers!

I am writing to request you support efforts to hold Senate Majority Leader Gene Suellentrop to the same level of accountability as the Kansas citizens he has been elected to represent. As more details come out, it becomes clear that this incident endangered the public and the police, and led to a vehicle accident and property damage. Engaging in this behavior and returning to the Senate, as if nothing happened, mocks the very laws Senator Suellentrop continues to vote on. This is a high-profile individual, being held to different standard because of the office he holds. Senator Suellentrop says he will not step down and calls this a distraction. To families affected by DUIs, it’s anything but. We call on Senate President Ty Masterson, and each of you, to do the right thing and demand Senate Suellentrop accept responsibility and step down to focus on his family and substance abuse issues — not unlike the hundreds of Kansans who attend our victim panels every year.
