I need you to fight. We are struggling out here and trying to pick up pieces that seem to be on a string that's being pulled further the closer we get to it. We needed a stimulus yesterday. I am begging you to advocate for not only MI residents, but residents of this entire country. Why is it that the country with one of the largest spending budgets one of the only developed countries that hasn't helped their citizens? I mean, truly, when looking at places like Canada, New Zealand, and Australia, one has to wonder if the people in Congress simply don't care to help. From the apprehension to give us help, lock us down, and get ahead of COVID earlier on in the year, it seems that way. There is no plausible reason why the pandemic and its effects have gotten this bad and out of control. We are in bad shape out here. Millions of people, including myself, have lost their unemployment benefits; millions more will be evicted soon. The average amount of back rent owed is almost $6,000, not including utilities.
Tell your peers to put aside pettiness and alliances and think for the people because that is their job. That is what they get paid to do. Let's be real: if these people had normal corporate jobs and were as negligent and poor-performing in that setting, they would be fired on the spot. The job market is terrible, especially for people like me who just finished college. The economy isn't representative of the people. COVID is spreading like wildfire. Help cannot wait for January 20th. Fight for us and win. Our lives, communities, and futures depend on what happens before Tuesday at 12:01 am.
