An open letter to State Governors Governor's decision to begin re-opening non-essential businesses this Friday
11 so far! Let’s get to 25 signers! I'm very concerned that Governor Kemp has made the reckless decision to begin reopening non-essential businesses this Friday, April 24. This is absolutely contrary to the advice of epidemiologists and public health experts, and his decision will cause needless death in Georgia. I'm also upset that he did not consult City of Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, nor the mayors of other major Georgia cities, before making his decision and public announcement. Finally, it is inexcusable that he deliberately preempted our mayors' authority to make more localized decisions to take action and protect us. He is making Georgia the laughing stock of the nation, disrespecting the health care workers who are tirelessly fighting for our lives, and opening us up to more cases and death due to COVID-19. He needs to reconsider his decision. At the least, allow our mayors the ability to keep their own protective orders in place.
