An open letter to the U.S. Senate Supreme Court: "They won’t be able to do much about this"
21 so far! Let’s get to 25 signers! They won’t be able to do much about this for a long time to come
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell: "We made an important contribution to the future of this country. A lot of what we’ve done over the last four years will be undone sooner or later by the next election. They won’t be able to do much about this for a long time to come."
That quote right there tells me everything I need to know about how the Supreme Court is being used. It is a political extension of the party in charge. There is no separation now between the Executive branch, the Judicial branch, and the Senate side of the Legislative branch. Do you think this is what the founders intended?
"They won’t be able to do much about this for a long time to come." The only reason this Supreme Court nominee is being rushed through the confirmation process is to satisfy a political party's desire for longstanding power, separate from the will of the people. It was OK 4 years ago to wait 8 months for the will of the people to speak, but now because the same political party holds the White House and the Senate, it's not OK to wait a month while the general election is already underway amidst a pandemic.
Senator Casey -- Thank you for voicing your opposition to this process. Please vote NO on confirming the nominee.
Senator Toomey -- I have urged you to vote NO and you are unwilling to do so. This will be an immense part of your legacy: party over country.
