Vote No on HB1005 and SB412

I am writing in opposition to HB 1005 and SB 412. Expansion of the school voucher system seeks to bankrupt inner-city public schools and public schools in impoverished areas by reallocating the full amount for each student, which was $5,548 in 2019-2020, whose parents elect a private education. Masquerading as school choice voucher programs rob public schools of funding and place undue burden and risk on children already struggling to gain an education where it's anything but a level playing field. In addition, tax money utilized for parochial education violates the establishment clause of the constitution, in that it entangles excessively the government with religion. I understand these bills are coming up for a floor vote on Wednesday, and I request that you vote no.
