An open letter to the U.S. Congress Expulsion of Seditionists from the U.S. Congress
6 so far! Let’s get to 10 signers! The violent attack on the center of our constitutional Republic today was not a crime of passion. It was the logical conclusion to a seditious conspiracy to overturn the votes of Americans and install the outgoing President of the United States as an unelected dictator.
18 U.S. Code § 2384 provides the penalties for seditious conspiracy: fine or imprisonment for not more than 20 years or both. It does not, however, state the course of action when those in leadership positions of our very republic are involved in this seditious conspiracy.
Representative Cori Bush will soon introduce a resolution to expel from the House those members of the House that incited and indeed encouraged this precise act of violent insurrection. I imagine someone will introduce a similar measure in the Senate. Senators, that someone could be you! Even if you do not introduce it, I ask you to co-sponsor these resolutions and to fight for their passage.
These "lawmakers" have done their best to create a coup against our legitimately elected President-Elect and perhaps even to do violence against US Representatives and Senators alike. These are not people who can be trusted to steer our mighty ship of State. They must be expelled from the Congress and their constituents must be invited to select new representation.
Beyond that, our outgoing President has broken the law and done his level best to break our country. He must be impeached, again, and then convicted and removed from office.
Thank you for your consideration. I will be calling your local offices as well. I wish you safety and health through this unprecedented attack on American democracy.
