An open letter to State Governors & Legislatures

COVID-19 and our vulnerable neighbors

23 so far! Let’s get to 25 signers!

As COVID-19 reaches pandemic level, it is important that we protect some of the most vulnerable people in our community. Social distancing is not possible in shelters, prisons, and detention centers. Please release immigrants from ICE facilities and allow prisoners to serve their sentences under house arrest. Please release people who are in prison because they can't afford bail. Additionally, please use emergency funding to temporarily house homeless people in hotel rooms. This is the ethical thing to do, and additionally it may help hotels struggling with the economic effects of social distancing. Thank you for all the hard work you've been doing already this session.
