An open letter to the U.S. Congress

The SCOTUS is broken. An Amendment is needed to repair it.

While the evidence has been mounting over decades, the events surrounding the Supreme Court over the last week have made a single concern extraordinarily clear. The SCOTUS is broken. The brand of politics exhibited in the modern era has left the court increasingly partisan and untrustworthy. What was once a institution of high principle, formed only to interpret law through the blind lens of nonpartisan justice has become a bludgeon used by political parties to strike down laws without having to put forth a voting record. We, the American People, who are served by all three branches of government, cannot let this fracture of American law and order to persist. The remedy is clear. The selection of Supreme Court Justices should be removed from partisan hands. The Supreme Court's construction must be codified into the Constitution with a new amendment. This is the only way to prevent the coming partisan battles that will destroy the Court, our rights, freedoms, and the United States of America. The 28th Amendment should declare the size of the Court, the nonpartisan selection process, the length of the single term a Justice would preside as a member the Court, and the process by which the Senate would continue to interview nominees prior to independent selection. Save the Supreme Court. Save our United States.
