An open letter to State Governors Justice for Elijah McClain
9 so far! Let’s get to 10 signers! Please re-open Elijah McClain's case. As you know, Elijah left his home to buy a tea and never returned. He was assaulted and murdered for absolutely no reason. As you also know, all three responding officers responded with force and all three of their body cameras "fell off," leaving us with only audio remnants of his last moments. Elijah did not deserve to die. His killers do not deserve to be police officers. Please, please, do everything you can to bring justice to Elijah and his family. I also want to note the obvious connection to SB-217. This bill must be passed so instances like this do not happen to Coloradans. Qualified immunity prevents justice every day, especially for Black and brown people in our country. Colorado should lead in this fight. Please support SB-217, for Elijah, and for countless others. Governor, you can help bring justice to Elijah McClain. Don't look away.
