NY rent suspension NOW

I am calling to demand that your implement a comprehensive New York rent suspension during this state of emergency. Due to cancellations and closures in response to the coronavirus pandemic, New Yorkers are losing an unprecedented amount of income and are unable to pay rent and to afford food, medicine, and basic supplies. Myself and many people I know have lost all of our recent income and income for the foreseeable future due to the city-wide lock down. And we don’t have savings. We must act now to waive all rent, mortgage, and utility payments. No one should have to struggle so much in a crisis. Housing security is imperative to our health. The closures and cancellations made by New York State to ensure our health need to be supported by measures that take into account the daily lives of working people.
