An open letter to the U.S. Senate

Supreme Court nominee

16 so far! Let’s get to 25 signers!

Please delay replacing Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s seat on the Supreme Court until after Inauguration Day in January 2021. As you may remember, there is a precedent for this. In March 2016, President Obama put forth a Supreme Court Justice nomination for Merrick Garland to replace the late Justice Scalia on the Court. Senator McConnell declined to hold confirmation hearings on the nomination, saying that the replacement should be chosen by the next president. I believe this is relevant now. It’s important to allow this election to confirm the desires of the American people-not that of power hungry politicians. Let us follow the dying wish of Justice Ginsberg and wait until the election before holding a hearing on a replacement. The senate should respect the fact that we are less than 50 days from an election and not force through a confirmation. I hope that you will do what is right for Ohioans and Americans and stop McConnell from holding this hasty vote.
